The Nigeria Professional Football League matchday seven between Sporting Lagos and Kano Pillars at the Onikan Stadium has been moved to Monday due to a concert by gospel singer Dunsin Oyekan.
“Due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict at Onikan Stadium, our NPFL game against Kano Pillars, which was scheduled for Sunday, 5th November has been moved to Monday, 6th November, at 4:00 p.m.,” Sporting Lagos said in a statement on Friday.

Oyekan is scheduled to hold ‘The Outpouring’ concert on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the Onikan Stadium, clashing with the match between ‘Tech Boys’ and ‘Sai Masu Gida’.
However, Sporting Lagos said, “Because the game is on a Monday, we won’t have our regular game day activities. Entry to Onikan Stadium is free for fans who want to come and support the team.”
Meanwhile, football fans have expressed frustration over the postponement.
“This is why we will continue to be left behind in the scheme of things. A league game moved to another day to accommodate a church event on what should be a football pitch. Smh,” a football fan, @iamgodwinantai, posted on X.
Another X user, @HakeemLayeni, said, “Can you imagine, a match was postponed because of a religious program. @followlasg can do better, they shouldn’t turn the stadium into an event center.”
X user @iam_exeebit, frustrated by the announcement stated, “@BadboiMidel see league, is like saying Newcastle vs Arsenal will be postponed because of church service at the stadium.”
