‘Nigeria Needs People To Guide Youths’

Nigerian youths have been urged to embrace mentoring in order to address the societal problems that have led to an increase in social vices across the nation.

This was stated by Victor Mela Danzaria, a member representing the Balanga-Billiri federal constituency in Gombe State.

Danzaria spoke in Abuja on the sidelines of the investiture ceremony of the Director-General of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI), Samson Duna, as the national president of the Boys’ Brigade, Nigeria.

“There is a dire need for leaders who will develop the next generation to replace them. It is important to know that this country needs people that will guide youths. Being the president of BB, Nigeria, and of course, Africa itself, means Duna has the skills and quality to carry people along, especially boys,” he said.

Also speaking, Duna described the boys’ brigade as an organization geared towards training young boys to become God-fearing children.

“One of our basic problems is to inculcate discipline in the boy child, so that the decadence of rotting society would not be absorbed by them. When a boy is trained, it means that a father is trained,” he said.

Minister of State for Science, Technology and Innovation, Adeleke Mamora, said: “Duna was elected by members of the BB, therefore, there cannot be a better confirmation as to his capacity, particularly having served the organization for so many years.”
