Seun Kuti: It's unfortunate that many Nigerians don't have regard for constituted authority - Force PR

The Nigeria Police Force Spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi has reacted to the assaults on a Police Officer on duty by Seun Kuti, the son of late Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti, on Saturday.

According to a viral video, Seun Kuti was seen yelling at a police officer on the third mainland bridge in Lagos.

Seun also went further to land a slap on the officer, clearly in broad day.

Speaking on the matter, the force spokesperson via his personal twitter handle wrotes,

“It’s unfortunate that many Nigerians dont have regard for our constituted authority, law enforcement agents, most especially the NPF. It’s even annoying that those who enjoy a lot of privileges and goodies from the Police that rubbish the force, most. Imagine.”

In another statement pushed out by the Nigeria PoliceForce, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Baba ALkali ordered the immediate arrest and full investigation to what led to the shameful act.

The statement reads,

SERIOUS ASSAULT ON POLICE OFFICER: IGP CONDEMNS ACT, ORDERS IMMEDIATE ARREST OF SEUN KUTI

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, who was captured on video assaulting a police officer in uniform.

The IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.

IGP Usman Alkali Baba assures Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book.
